This study investigates whether combining the drugs Imatinib and Artesunate improves treatment outcomes in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia. It included patients aged 18-85 who were newly diagnosed in the chronic phase or who had a suboptimal response to Imatinib therapy. The study is in Phase 2 and is active but not currently recruiting participants.

Inclusion Criteria: * Newly diagnosed chronic phase CML patients * Patients with sub-optimal response to imatinib therapy * Ages between 18 years and 85 years with written informed consent Exclusion Criteria: * Patients with documented hypersensitivity to artesunate * Patients with cardiovascular disease, pregnancy and inability to give consent will be excluded. * Patients currently on any medication(s) that may interact with imatinib or affect its pharmacokinetics parameters (like rifampicin and ketoconazole) will be excluded.
